From conceited to self conscious in a matter of seconds

As I walked across the parking lot today, a couple drove by me in a car. I saw them both look at me, but then the girl who was the passenger turned around to watch me as they drove away. I was slightly weirded out, but as I continued along my way, I figured that she had to have that second look with one of two thoughts running through her head:

1. "woah, that girl is pretty!" To which I say, "why thank you, but sorry, I'm already incredibly taken."

OR

2. "Oh. My. Gosh. What on earth is she wearing? I could look better than her any day of the week. That girl is a complete disgrace to feminism." To which I say, "Yeah I know."

I have such a hard time making myself look good after a workout. Especially when the morning workouts are right before class so then I don't have time to shower so I can put on some nice clothes. I've seen some girls on my team manage to salvage their sweaty hair and bods to get themselves looking presentable, but I couldn't bother. Even on the days when workouts are done early enough for me to shower, all I ever do is throw on a shirt with some yoga pants and put some leave-in conditioner in my hair to keep it from poofing everywhere.

But luckily today, half my team was wearing sweats after our workout. It's almost as if we're saying, "On Wednesdays, we wear pink sweats." ;D

Skipping merrily along...

In high school I was such a goody goody that I never, ever skipped a class and when I had spares I spent them at the school doing homework. Until I got to grade 12. In grade 12 I skipped one class and I was nearly caught doing it. And you know what the sad thing is? I skipped my class and didn't even leave the school. I went to the art room. Yup, I was one of those kids. Minus the weed and lip piercings.

Today I skipped both of my classes so I could savor the last little bit of time I had with Joe this morning before he left for work. It's a noble cause. Now that he's gone though, I've spent the morning organizing all of our crap that we've moved into my parents' house. We had a pretty busy weekend moving everything out of our basement suite and into storage or my parents' house. And finally, I've given myself a chance to get it into some order!

So be happy for us, we've moved. And I'd say our room is getting closer to being the way I like it. Though I'm sure it'll take several more days of solid work to get it perfect.

And just to give you another reason to be happy for me, guess what.

I am concussion free! Which means I've been cleared to resume my normal physical activities which include working out, running and playing Just Dance. Now I can start to get rid of the extra poundage I've put on since Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Who am I kidding, I don't care about that. I'm just happy I can Just Dance again!!!

facebook etiquette, moving plans, mother nature

  • When I'm surfing the facebook, if I made all the comments that are actually going through my head as I look at other people's profiles, one of two things would happen: Some people would be completely weirded out by my affection for them and the others would hate me. You know what Thumper's father says, "If you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all." Well, if you ever think I'm not saying much, now you know why.
  • Joe and I are moving. Nowhere exciting, just my parents's house. Okay, I guess my mom would think it's exciting, but for a girl who has recently gained her independence from her family, I can't help but feel like this is a step backward. However! There is a reason for it. During the summer I'm going to move up to GP with Joe where we will split the rent with another couple.
  • Well I've officially had my first pregnancy scare. Aunt Flow was a couple days late this month and I was freaking out. With all our upcoming plans for the year, I wasn't sure how a baby would fit in. And I've still gotta graduate! Needless to say, even though Flow was late she came with a vengeance. Owie :(

Aaand, those are my thoughts and my worries. School starts up this week and it should be alright. I'm done class by 11 everyday. Boo yah.

What are your thoughts, folks? Leave a comment! Gimme some love! Or some constructive criticism. Whatever you're in the mood for.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had some great New Year's Celebrations and they were safe in whatever they were doing.

Christmas was good too, nice and relaxing! We spent Christmas with my family this year and it was nice to spend a few days at my parent's house. I have to tell you about the gift I got for my mom because I am just so proud of myself.

I found this software made by Roxio that converts old VHS movies to digital format so you can burn it onto a DVD. It's called Easy VHS to DVD3 Plus. Yeah, a mouthful, I know. So what I've been doing is converting our old family videos and putting them on DVDs for my mom. I just gave her one DVD to begin with, but now that the hubby is gone I've started up the process again so that I'll hopefully have all the videos converted before school starts up next week.

With the New Year I've come to a decision. I've decided that I am going to stop referring to my husband as Johnny on the blog because I've grown tired of it and feel ready to move on. His name is Joseph, and that is what I will call him here from now on. In case you didn't know, I introduced him on the blog by calling him Johnny Lingo because of the pineapples he brought over when we first started going out.

Speaking of the New Year, have any of you made New Year's resolutions? Or do you even believe in them at all? I've made resolutions on and off before and I am always terrible with keeping them. However, starting this blog was part of a new year's resolution, so I guess I'm still doing alright with that.

Joe (my husband, remember?) and I haven't made any resolutions this year, but we've decided to try something else instead. We decided to come up with a family theme for us to focus on for the year and maybe we'll throw in some monthly goals to work on later, but for January we're just focusing on the theme. I even got all gung ho and made a little picture using google docs. So here is our theme and goal for the year:
