Two Hundred

I've started a couple posts recently, but haven't uploaded them because my last post was my 199th published post and I wanted 200 to be something special. I finally decided to write something and get it over with. So without further adieu, I give you my
For those of you who've been reading since the beginning, I thank you. We've been through a lot together here on the blog. You were with me when I used to talk about boys and how stupid they were. When I went on my trip to Australia you eagerly anticipated the days when I'd post pictures. Hey, remember when I created my 101 things to do in 1001 days? It's over now and I think I may have gotten like, half of them done...  And oh my gosh! You were there when I went on my first date with Joe (!) back when I called him Johnny.

There are so many memorable moments. I'm just going to put a bunch of labels at the bottom of this blog post and you can feel free to browse through them at your own leisure.

Thanks for reading everyone! And here's to another

I don't plan on ending this thing any time soon, so I'm sure we'll get to 400 :) Who's with me?

Today is Thursday

I just spent an hour watching Ellen clips on Youtube and it's only 10 in the morning. Go me!

As I began writing this post I had a sort-of-but-not-really deja vu moment where I remembered writing another post on a certain topic, but I'm not really sure if I actually wrote it, so I'll have to check that out after this...

I don't have to work today. What shall I do with all my time? I'll be getting off the computer as soon as I'm done, I promise.

Have you ever been talking awkwardly with someone at some sort of social gathering and then you come to the end of what you were talking about and then you just stand there awkwardly with them for a few seconds then say, "Oh hey what's that over there?" and walk away? No? Oh good, me neither.

Are there any SYTYCD fans reading my blog?? Because I just watched this week's performances last night and I need to share my love of the show with someone! I loved the crap out of the Top 20 routine and then the Travis Wall routine with the blindfolds was awesome and I loved the nitty gritty swamp jazz routine by Sonya.

When did we start making acronyms for our favourite TV shows? I know of a few more like HIMYM, ANTM, and SYTTD... Is it just so you know who the true fans are? Like, if you are a true fan of the show, you can recognize it by its acronym? What if it's a show that has one word for the name? How do you tell the true fans then?

Joe and I had to create cooking times with our housemates because it's too hard for them to get into the kitchen when we make dinner. They say dinner is a huge production for us. I think that's just another way of saying we're inefficient cooks...

Speaking of Joe and I -- Our anniversary is coming up and he'll actually be off work for it! I'm starting to get excited about it already, but I have no idea what we're going to do or who should be in charge of planning what to do. If I don't get on this we may just end up sitting around, staring at each other and then one of us will awkwardly say, "Oh hey what's that over there?"

Storytime

I finished up early at the clinic today so little J hung around me when I got home asking me to tell stories of princes and princesses. Once I used up all my disney material, I had start getting creative with my stories. I was pretty proud of myself for on-the-spot creativity so I thought I'd share my stories with you.

The Fairy Princess Finds New Friends
Once upon a time there was a fairy princess who couldn't fly. All the other fairies in the kingdom could fly so they made fun of her because she was different. One day the princess got fed up so she ran away until she couldn't run anymore and went to sleep. When she woke up she discovered she was in a land with no kingdom. She met new fairies who didn't care that she couldn't fly so they made a new kingdom that was better than the old one because they didn't make fun of fairies for things they couldn't do and they lived happily ever after. The end.

Moral of the story? If you're friends are jerks, find new friends!

The Royal Children and Their Rabbit
Once upon a time there were a brother and a sister named Jon and Rebecca. Their parents were the king and queen so that made them the prince and princess. Jon and Rebecca also had a pet rabbit that could talk and his name was Stefano. One day Stefano took the kids on an adventure that brought them to a dark corner of the kingdom that their parents had warned them not to go to. Jon and Rebecca told Stefano they should head back but he wouldn't let them so they killed the rabbit and cooked him in a stew and went home. Then they got a pet gerbil that couldn't talk and they lived happily ever after. The end.

And the moral of the story, children, is that you should do what you know is right.

The Princess Who Didn't Marry
Once upon a time there was a princess who really wanted to get married but was sick of the the dumb princes that took her out. So one day she decided to move to a different kingdom with different princes. But all those princes were dumb too so she decided to go out into the world and do her own thing. She travelled and had lots of grand adventures and learned how to take care of herself. The princess met lots of princes on her travels but none of them were right for her. The princess never married, but she was happy because he had plenty of friends who loved her and so she lived happily ever after. The end.

Moral of the story? Have the confidence to know that you are awesome and can do things on your own.

Sweet dreams

Last night Joe and I went to the cineplex for a movie and to our great delight they were selling lemonade. One of the reasons we hate going to cineplex is because they have bad popcorn and terrible drinks to go with their popcorn. But we love lemonade.

However, the guy helping us filled our cup halfway with ice so we actually got hardly any lemonade. I calmly asked him if we were going to be able to get a refill when we finished it but the boy told me the cineplex does not give refills. Now I am not a girl who likes confrontation, but I snapped. It's been too long since I have been in a movie with a delicious glass of lemonade so I laid into this boy telling him that he'd better give us a proper cup of lemonade or he was gonna feel some pain. The boy apologized and told us that it was policy to give that much ice with their lemonade.

Fed up, I yanked the half full cup of lemonade from the boy and dumped the ice and then filled the cup all the way to the top with the heavenly juice. The boy started yelling and called for security so I ran down the hall towards my movie dodging security guards and movie lines, all without spilling my drink. I got into the theatre and quickly found a seat to hunker down while I hid from the authorities and enjoyed my movie.

I don't even know what movie it was, but my biggest disappointment was that I woke up before I could have a sip of my dang lemonade.

Meow

Now that I'm living in GP I've been sharing my house with two cats. I am not a cat person in any way so getting used to living with cats has probably been the biggest adjustment through this whole experience.

Here are a few of my thoughts regarding cats:

1. They leave hair everywhere. And they have this nasty habit of rubbing up against your leg which makes your pants hairy.

2. Why do they feel the need to scratch things? There's a couch in this house that the cats have made their scratching post and it's like they can't walk by the couch without having to stop and scratch it.

3. They are sooooo lazy. Joe and I are the only ones in the house for the week and yesterday when I went to work the two cats were chillin on the couch. When I got home they were still there! No wonder they're fat.

4. Sometimes they will just randomly run across the room for no reason. And at night I'll hear the strangest noises coming from wherever they are. They're up to something, I know it...

5. Seriously, what is with the scratching? How am I supposed to like cats if I know they will claw the crap out of any furniture I might own? Are you allowed to beat them for something like that like you would a dog?

6. Since the cats spend of their day sleeping, does that mean they don't sleep at night? For a couple days in a row I've noticed my hair ties sitting on the stairs near my bedroom when I know they were in the bathroom the night before. I swear, they're up to something...

Even though I'm not a huge fan of living with cats, at least I have gained appreciation for this video.

For the love of dough!

Anyone that knows me knows I love desserts. Okay, I love food in general, but there is a special place in my heart for desserts -- especially the kind I can make. Cookies are a wonderful dessert, but there's one thing about the cookie world I hate.

I've been surfing around the interwebs lately looking for a new cookie recipe to try. And a lot of them look really good, but I've been noticing a trend. Any cookie recipe that claims to be the best will always tell you to  refrigerate the dough for several hours or overnight for extra 'puffiness'.

Does anyone I know actually refrigerate their cookie dough?? When I make cookies, it's because I want to eat cookies right now. Half the dough doesn't even make it to the oven because it's so delicious that I just have to eat it now. In fact, a friend and I once made a batch of cookie dough just to eat the dough! We didn't even preheat the oven because we had no intentions of cooking our cookies. (Yes, that was during a girl's night and we watched a sappy movie after ward while we om nommed our delightful dough).

What I'm trying to get at is that I don't think these people who refrigerate their dough take cookies seriously. I mean, if you can make a batch of cookie dough, and then not eat it and save it for the next day, you clearly don't love cookies enough. I love cookies so much that I will eat one fresh out of the oven and scald my tongue on the lava hot chocolate chips and still go back for more. That, my friends, is what a cookie monster is all about.
